Coorg greenery

Coorg has fresh air, pleasant climate, relaxed atmosphere and lush greenery to soothe the senses.For the nature lover, Coorg boasts of a wide variety of flora and fauna. From of over 350 species of birds to the two tonne “White Socks” Bison in the famous Nagarhole forest reserve, you can see them all in Coorg. Alternatively you can enjoy the water falls, streams and trek routes the abound in the area.

Coorg also has significant religious importance for pilgrims. Talacauvery, from where the river Cauvery originates is in Coorg. Another popular attraction is the town of Bhagamandala where the rivers Kanika, Sujyoti and Cauvery merge (called the Sangam)

Tourist Places around Silver Oak


The capital of Coorg, Madikeri is often known as the Scotland of India. It has attracted millions of travelers with its misty hills, lush forests, coffee plantations and breath taking views. Madikeri is also known for its lovely climate.The Raja seat or Kings Chair is located at the heart of the Madikeri or Mercara is a favorite spot of the kings from where one can see the sweep of the mist-covered blue hills and valleys with green fields. The Madikeri king used to sit here every evening enjoying the sunset and beauty of Coorg. Today this place developed with Public garden and beautiful dancing Fountain.

Nagarahole National wild life Sanctuary:

Though the name literally means Snake River in the state language Kannada, this place is house for the King Cobra. Nagarahole is one of the best game sanctuaries in India, providing natural living conditions to several wild animals like elephants, tigers, panthers, rhinos and wild elephants. Large population of Flora and fauna can be fond in Nagarahole which covers the area of about 643 Sq Kms This place is pleasantly cool round the year makes it a great place to relax. Jungle safaris are available as elephant rides.

Irpu Falls:

This falls situated inside the Bhrahmagiri wild life sanctuary. The falls is about 58 feet high, by the river called Lakshman Thirtha. Below the falls is the Ram Thirtha Temple. Lakshman Thirtha flows and joins Cauvery River in Mysore. This wild life sanctuary is home for the world’s most beautiful butterflies and unique Peacocks. With prior permission from the Forest authorities one can trek through the Irpu falls to the beautiful hills which not an easy job for the ordinary trekker.

Abbi Falls:

Abbey falls is located 7 km from the town of Madikeri and 270 km from Bangalore. The water is falls from the height of about 70 feet in between the huge mountain rocks is remarkable and striking a sight as you would see anywhere. The narrow road to Abbi Falls is a combination of steep ups and downs, twists and turns, wriggling through the green and dense foliage of surrounding coffee plantations. Situated on private property, a narrow pathway leads you downward to where the waterfall can be seen. This falls is also called Jessy falls in the memory of Madikeri’s first British Chaplin. Splashing hard against the huge boulders of rock, the water drops at enormous speed accompanied by gushing sounds. This white wall of water creates a misty cloud with its moisture-like spray feels like being in Heaven.
